Leftovers - a group for reading otherwise is an informal reading and discussion group. In May the group is thinking about feminism and reading:
The group meets monthly, providing a supportive, peer-led space for close and speculative readings of texts from cultural and critical theory, philosophy, literature, poetry, and popular media.
The selected texts respond to TACO!’s context, public programming and artist research, and to the ideas that arise in discussion. Every session, the group share opinions, thoughts and reflections arising from readings.
Members are encouraged to bring texts as a response to share with others, read and discuss. These materials, physical ephemera and notes, as well as the shared texts, are the group's leftovers. The group is generous and generative: that which is left over is available for others to use and share.
The group is free to attend, open to all and meets in person at TACO!, where food is provided as part of the sharing.
Texts are shared as PDFs on the TACO! website and via email, 2-3 weeks in advance of group discussions. The reading list of all texts shared and brought to the group is added to on an ongoing basis, and is made available for wider use here and by TACO!
Forthcoming meetings include- 19 May, 16 June, 21 July, 18 August.
TACO! encourages a range of diverse voices to join the group, to participate in generous and respectful discussion. To take part in the group and receive reading texts and discussion dates, or to find out more information, please email info@taco.org.uk.
