Thamesmead Arts and Culture Office (TACO!) is an artist-led space for research, production, and exchange located in Thamesmead, SE London.  TACO! is engaged with its local context and centres the work and role of artists  in all the work it undertakes, supporting a dialogue between artists, audiences, community and place.

TACO!  currently comprises of a gallery, event space, bookshop, broadcast studio, and production studio.  All of these platforms provide opportunities for artists to make, present and distribute work.


The TACO! bookshop provides a platform for independent publications, zines, vinyl and artist materials produced by publishers, small press, groups, galleries, and artist practitioners.  The Bookshop is open during exhibition periods, and available online.  We are open to submissions and proposals to the shop. TACO! is steered by a board of trustees and advisors.  This fine group of people help shape TACO!  and support it in the realisation of its work. Current members of the board include.

TACO! has AV equipment for hire for events. For more information about what we have to hire and the prices, please see our price list.

TACO!’s activities are experimental and collaborative. Invited artists are supported to research, develop and realise projects over a dedicated period of time. This research informs a public programme that includes exhibitions, events,  discussions, workshops, screenings, publishing, and co-authored participatory projects with local people and groups.  Projects initiated by artists vary in duration.  We set an open timeframe with no set expectations on outcomes.

RTM.FM is run as a community radio station providng a platform for local people, artists, musicans, producers from across SE London to broadcast.  We also run training workshops in audio production and broadcasting.  We are open to ︎proposals for broadcast shows that fit the broadcasting programme.

TACO! is a non-for profit arts organisation and registered charity ( no: 1196316). 100% of the money we raise and earn through the sales of items in our shop goes towards furthering the work we do with artists and audiences. We're entirely dependent on the generosity of the people we meet and the partners we work with to undertake our work incluidng Arts Council England, Peabody, Henry Moore Foundation, HLF, London Borough of Greenwich, and the Elephant Trust.
