HOT SNAKES HALF-TERM HUNDRED CLUB WORKSHOPS WITH CHLOE LANGLOIS

27th & 28th May

10AM - 12PM

TACO!
30 Poplar Place, SE28 8BB

Join performance artist Chloe Langlois for 2 days of half-term performance magic!

In the 1st workshop we'll be DREAMING with Hotsnakes, Chloe's imaginary Guardian Angel! We'll be creating and writing our own magic words of power! We'll make a dark space for performing in, wear torches and use colourful theatrical lighting, dress up in costumes and perform our words with microphones and special sound effects. We'll also be taking photographs of each other, and recording our voices and magic words to see if we can make sounds and songs that we might share with others over the radio or in Chloe's forthcoming performance events at TACO!  We'll be thinking about who else uses words powerfully when they speak, in what ways we can make powerful things happen in the world with our words and actions, and how we might perform together to make our magic words change the real world!

In the 2nd workshop we'll be WAND MAKING with Hotsnakes, Chloe's imaginary Guardian Angel!  We'll be imagining what a guardian angel might look like and drawing our own and telling made-up stories about them. We'll put on special hats, then collect sticks to make fantastical magic wands and use them to make magic and ask our Guardian Angel to change things in the world – what would you change if you could?  With our wands, angels and fantastic hats, we will turn our wands into designs for musical instruments. And we'll transform our Guardian Angels into Gargoyle designs for Chloe's performance at TACO! in the summer.

Families are invited to join one or both workshops!
Workshops are free with refreshments provided.

Chloe Langlois completed a BA at Chelsea College of Art, then worked in a betting shop for nearly eight years, moved to Nottingham, and returned to the compulsion of art making working with peers in art, comedy, and the occult. She completed an MA in Contemporary Art Practice: Moving Image at the Royal College of Art. Since, she has been trying to contact her Holy Guardian Angel, ‘Hot Snakes’, with mixed results. Looking at the messy and the magical in video and live performance, her interests lie in channelling, re-enactment, non-verbal communication, and collective euphoria.
