︎TACO! PRINT STUDIO ︎TACO! PRINT STUDIO

The TACO! Print Studio is a risograph print and publishing facility with Artist Research Library that can be accessed by artists, groups and communities. The Studio provides resources for production and research and offers a programme of risograph workshops and independent access sessions.

Risograph is a unique form of printing that has similarities with photocopying and screen printing. It uses a machine called a risograph to make beautiful, layered images and graphics, using digital files and images.

Our Studio has a 2-drum Risograph machine with 4 inks, paper to purchase, cutting, folding and binding facilities. It includes a kitchen, wifi, and a soft seating area.

For all studio enquiries please email riso@taco.org.uk.

Open Access sessions can accommodate 3 print slots from 10am-6pm. We limit studio numbers to ensure all users can make the most of the studio and its resources. Users are guaranteed a 2.5h risograph print slot, and can also make use of the rest of the space and facilities before and after their print slot to realise their project, prepare artwork files, or test prints and paper. You may be able to use the risograph for longer depending on other users that day.

Payment for the paper, ink and materials you use is taken at the end of your session by card.

Open Access sessions are supervised by an experienced studio Keyholder, who is responsible for giving you a short induction to our space and our risograph, and is on hand for technical support. Open Access sessions are self-directed.

If you have no prior Risograph experience and would like to learn the essentials, see below to book an Introduction to Riso Workshop
.

INDUCTIONS AND FIRST TIME USERS

On your first visit to the Studio, you will be required to undertake a 40-minute studio induction, and read and sign a Studio User Agreement. The induction is focused on how to navigate the studio and provides a brief introduction to our specific risograph machine and how to use it safely.

If you have no prior Risograph experience and would like to learn the essentials, see below to book an Introduction to Riso Workshop.

INTRODUCTION TO RISOGRAPH WORKSHOP

A 3-hour group workshop, where you will learn how to creatively use the risograph, with all materials included. We will begin by exploring how a risograph printer works, and look at artworks and publications made using the machine. We will then develop our own two-layered designs using a mixture of drawing and collage. Each participant will design and print their artwork, and take home create 10x two-colour A3 or A4 prints. Open to people with no prior experience of risograph and people seeking a refresher. Book below:
