TACO! Young Artist Projects reflect the wider ethos of TACO!’s programming. We centre children and young people as artists and creative producers. Our projects are collaborative - allowing artists, children and young people to work together and lead on not only the direction of outcomes, but also new and radical ways of thinking and working.
We aim to embrace the messy, unpredictable, non-linear and sometimes inconvenient, to put the idea of play at the center of what we do, to work in ways and scales that may not be possible within a classroom setting.
We believe that children should have access to the means of production to make high quality, innovative and compelling artworks, broadcasts, and publications as ways of showcasing their practice and ideas to a wider public.
Current ongoing initatives forming part of Young Artist Projects include
Bang Splat Whoosh, a 3 year programme working with early years children aged 2-4, funded by the Energiser Fund.
The Hundred Club, an ongoing programme working with children aged 5-12, funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
