DIY VOCAL INSTRUMENTS FOR KIDS

Ever wanted to sound like a robot or change your voice?
Join artist Jenny Pengilly to learn how to adapt your voice with vocal exploration games and make voice changing instruments inspired by vocoders, kazoos, echo-mics, talk boxes and voice disguisers.
Once our new vocal instruments are finished we will visit the RTM studio to sample what electronic equipment can do, and to amplify and record the new sounds we have made for Jenny’s radio show.
Suitable for 1-16 year olds and their families, this workshop takes its inspiration from the subject of TACO!'s current exhibition by Frances Scott and Chu-Li Shewring and their film, Wendy,
which explores the life and work of Wendy Carlos, the inventor and pioneer of the vocoder.
